Paul Finebaum Names Major College Football Coach That’s Been ‘Erratic’
In coaching, past decisions often remain with you for a long time. Regardless of whether those decisions were good or bad, they will likely follow you throughout your career.
That seems to be the case for LSU Tigers head coach Brian Kelly. Kelly is in the news because his former team, the No. 7 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish (14-2), played for a national championship. Kelly left after the 2021 regular season to take the head coaching job at LSU.
When he departed, Kelly stated, “I want to be in an environment where I have the resources to win a national championship.” Although Kelly has since retracted those comments, the discussion surrounding him and his statement continues.
During “The Paul Finebaum Show,” SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum commented on the move. He noted that Kelly struggled with communication at Notre Dame, which contributed to him not winning a national championship.
“Kelly was at times aloof,” Finebaum said. “He just simply could not communicate in the proper way. I don’t know whether he can do it at LSU. I think he can. I think they’re going to be one of the stories of next year. But he’s certainly been erratic in his first three years.”
