Ohio State’s freshman wide receiver, Jeremiah Smith, has rapidly ascended to prominence in college football, drawing significant attention from analysts who foresee a stellar professional future for him. Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt is clearly one of his biggest fans, having recently expressed his high expectations.

The Fox Sports analyst went as far as to say that Smith could become one of the best players of all time in his position.

“He’s got to play two more years of college football which means, in four years, Jeremiah Smith is the best receiver in football. He’s the No. 1 on any team in the NFL,” he stated.

Smith‘s inaugural season statistics are nothing short of remarkable. He recorded 76 receptions for 1,316 yards and 15 touchdowns, contributing significantly to Ohio State‘s national championship victory. His performance was punctuated by a memorable 56-yard touchdown catch on third-and-11, which effectively secured the title against Notre Dame.

In the College Football Playoff, Smith’s prowess was on full display. Over four games, he amassed 19 receptions for 381 yards and five touchdowns. Notably, he achieved 187 yards and two touchdowns against the top-ranked Oregon Ducks, followed by a touchdown in the national championship game against Notre Dame.

Klatt‘s enthusiasm for Smith’s potential is evident. He remarked, “Smith could be an all-time great, all-time great wide receiver, right. I truly believe he will be a 10-time All-Pro.” However, Klatt also acknowledged the weight of such expectations, adding, “I don’t want to put the cart before the horse. I don’t want to put too much pressure on this guy.”

Smith‘s exceptional freshman year has not only solidified his reputation as a top collegiate receiver but has also sparked discussions about his future impact in the NFL. As he continues to develop over the next two years at Ohio State, the football community will be keenly observing his journey, anticipating the emergence of a potential all-time great.
