HEART BREAKING NEWS: Melbourne Demons He won ‘t play again

Demons are about to take a significant turnabout as the troubled club opens doors for an outside review.

Melbourne has been making significant off-field changes, and this week they will finally be subjecting themselves to an external evaluation, despite weeks of denials.

It happens after club president Kate Roffey resigned from both the board and the position due to backlash after her remarks in a recent SEN interview on the upheaval within the club, which included the story of Christian Petracca.

The Demons will let outside specialists into the team to assess what went wrong, with culture issues and a lack of on-field success likely to be looked at, as Seven’s Mitch Cleary first reported.

“In a major backflip, the Demons are embarking on an external review,” Cleary said on Seven News on Sunday night.

“It comes after weeks of turmoil in which they consistently denied the need to open their doors.

“The review will focus mostly on the football department, with senior leaders all to be examined.”

Former All Blacks manager Darren Shand will reportedly be a key part of the review.

“After 20 years at one of the world’s most successful teams, he is an expert in culture and leadership,” Cleary said.

It is unclear whether coach Simon Goodwin’s role will be up for review as well.

Former player Brad Green will take the role as Melbourne president following Roffey’s exit.

On Friday night Demons great Garry Lyon congratulated Roffey for her stint at the club, which included the 2021 premiership, but told Melbourne: “And now, just get your act together.”
