Sad news: Brian Johnson announce not to perform in the Rush again due to…

Watch ‘For Those About to Rock’, an explosive song, as AC/DC wraps up their 2024 tour.
Against overwhelming obstacles, Angus Young was able to reunite AC/DC for their first tour since 2016 this summer.

At Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, on Saturday night, in front of 82,000 yelling fans, AC/DC concluded their 2024 Power Up tour. Their 1981 album For Those About to Rock We Salute You’s title track closed the event, which was characteristically spectacular. Watch the big finish on this fan-shot video.

It’s a minor marvel that the tour happened at all given the tragedy of deaths, tragedies, court cases, and band fatigue the band has had in recent years. Angus Young was the final legitimate member of the gang standing at the conclusion of their previous run in 2016. owing to hearing issues, singer Brian Johnson quit the tour early; drummer Phil Rudd was absent owing to a convoluted legal matter in New Zealand; and bassist Cliff Williams decided he had had enough and would be retiring. (Since 2014, Stevie Young has been filling in for his late uncle Malcolm Young.)

Angus was able to get the band back together to record Power Up in 2020, but touring was not feasible due to the epidemic. When they finally performed in 2023, at the Power Trip festival, Rudd was not present for an unexplained reason. He was replaced by Matt Laug of Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs. Campbell told Rolling Stone earlier this year that the job was “his dream gig.” He and Slash once played in a band that opened for AC/DC. He had always imagined that he would land the job, and it did. I’m overjoyed for him.
