TSN’s Dave Naylor was the first to report Wednesday that the Blue and Gold was signing quarterbacks Jake Dolegala and Bryan Scott.
The signings come a day after Chris Streveler announced via an Instagram post that he tore three ligaments in his left knee after taking a low hit during Saturday’s 26-21 Banjo Bowl win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Streveler’s recovery timeline is unknown, but he said it will be a long road.
Dolegala, who is 6-foot-7 and 242 pounds, is an imposing figure. He was most recently with the B.C. Lions, who released him in mid-August after the team signed Nathan Rourke. The 27-year-old started one game this year for the Lions, going 14-for-23 passing for 146 yards in a loss to the Edmonton Elks.

He has a 2-8 record as a starter, with nine of those 10 starts coming for the Roughriders in 2023.
Dolegala had several cups of coffee in the NFL, including multiple stints in New England and Green Bay, and spent the 2019 season on the Cincinnati Bengals’ 53-man roster.
Scott, meanwhile, was cut by the Toronto Argonauts last month after the CFL reinstated Chad Kelly following his suspension for violating the league’s gender-based violence policy.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound passer dressed for nine games for the Argos as the team’s backup, completing all five pass attempts for 79 yards and a touchdown.
An alum of Occidental College, Scott set the school’s record for passing yards with 9,073. He threw 77 touchdowns and 22 interceptions in 33 career games, and was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference player of the year in 2016.
The Bombers are on the bye in Week 15, returning next Saturday with their first visit to Edmonton.
The woes continued for the winless Winnipeg Blue Bombers as Zach Collaros missed the first day of practice in preparation for Friday’s game against the Ottawa Redblacks.
The quarterback was out Tuesday with a thorax injury, according to the team’s injury report. Collaros was lost during Saturday night’s 22-19 overtime loss to the Calgary Stampeders after playing in just two quarters.
The Blue Bombers turned to backup Chris Streveler, who threw for 170 yards and one touchdown, along with an interception in overtime. Winnipeg had three turnovers and committed eight penalties in the loss.
Collaros has completed 66-of-106 passes for 796 yards this season, with four interceptions. He has yet to throw a touchdown pass in 2024.
The potential absence of Collaros is another setback in what’s been a miserable start for the Bombers. Winnipeg, coming off a Grey Cup appearance, is 0-4 for the first time since 2012 when the team finished 6-12.
