he Belarussian won 7-5, 7-5 to earn her third Grand Slam triumph at the age of 26, after previously winning the Australian Open twice as well as making the semifinal of the US Open twice, the French Open in 2023, and Wimbledon twice.
And she did so with her love watching on less than a year after her ex tragically committed suicide. So who is Georgios Frangulis, the man who has been dating the world number two since around April 2024?
Frangulis has been a fixture at Sabalenka’s matches throughout 2024 after first appearing at the Mutua Madrid Open in April, before he watched her in the Cincinnati Masters and the US Open and she is grateful for his support.
“There was a really tough period where I was really happy to have him by my side,” Sabalenka told PEOPLE in August. “Always cheering me up, always making sure that we are doing some fun stuff.”
Who is Georgios Frangulis?
Frangulis is a Brazilian businessman who was spotted cheering Sabalenka on to victory against the USA’s Pegula at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, before she jubilantly hailed him as “priceless” on social media born in Sao Paulo, he studied law at the Fundacao Armando Alvares Penteadobut never completed the program nor attempted to pass the bar, adding he already knew his passion lay in becoming an entrepren
So he formed Oakberry in 2016, which specializes in harvesting acai berries that are often a staple of products offered by companies such as Starbucks and works locally in Brazil by operating within the Amazon rainforest.
Oakberry now operates 700 sites through 40 nations around the globe and earned over $67m in capital by the final quarter of 2023.
Whilst being involved in the Amazon is controversial due to deforestation and pollution risks, Frangulis makes it very clear to put sustainability at the forefront of his brand and to ensure he protects the environment of Brazil’s most famous symbol.
“Açaí, as a fruit, only exists because of the subsistence culture of riverside communities in the Amazon Rainforest,” Frangulis told Forbes Brazil, before later saying, “I have always been a believer, in the sense of faith.
