Alabama football injury update: Latest from Kalen DeBoer before

The Monday before the Georgia game, Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer provided the latest injury update on the Crimson Tide.Kalen DeBoer reacts after Alabama narrowly avoids second straight SEC upset: 'Proud of these guys' | Fox News

DeBoer seemed optimistic about Malachi Moore, who sustained a head injury vs. Wisconsin. The open week helped in that regard. For Moore, it was “just a matter of time.”

“He was out there practicing already at the end of last week,” DeBoer said.

On Qua Russaw (leg): “With Qua, still taking the steps, still working through his situation. I’m optimistic with Qua, we just have to see as we evaluate throughout the week.”

DeBoer also said with Cole Adams (arm) and Richard Young (leg), Alabama is “working (them) back slowly.”

“Cole practiced, not 100% of practice, but he’s out there competing and doing some things with the activities that we have and even some competitive drills,” DeBoer said.

Moore, Russaw and Young each sustained injuries in the Wisconsin game. Adams sustained his injury in the USF game.

Moore and Russaw are both starters on defense, and Moore is a captain. Young is a backup running back while Adams was the starting punt returner and a player in the receiver rotation.

No. 4 Alabama (3-0) will face No. 1/2 Georgia on Saturday (6:30 p.m. CT, ABC) at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

However, before Jackson could play the role of game savior, he gave up a touchdown.

South Carolina scored with 43 seconds left as Sellers found receiver Nyck Harbor in the end zone to bring the Gamecocks within two points. Harbor had to make an impressive catch, but Jackson was ultimately the player who gave up the score.

He soon had a chance to make up for it.

Unable to score on the two-point conversion after Harbor’s touchdown, South Carolina had to go for the onside kick. And the Gamecocks recovered it. That gave South Carolina one last chance at points.
