The Indianapolis Colts defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 27-14 in the preseason on Thursday, with Anthony Richardson leading the way. Richardson scored a touchdown and gained 65 yards on his first seven of eight completions. Before missing the entire season due to shoulder surgery, the 2023 fourth overall pick was limited to playing in just four games as a rookie. However, his opening drive demonstrated the unique skill set of the Colts quarterback.
Then came the second drive, on which Richardson found Bengals defender Jordan Battle with a pick-6 after the pass was meant for Kylen Granson, the tight end for the Colts. Cameras captured Richardson talking with Granson after the play, and it was clear that he thought Granson would choose a different approach.
Put it down to a misunderstanding. However, not everyone shared this sentiment, which prompted some strange conjecture from the NFL broadcasters on Amazon Prime.
See how Anthony Richardson stacks up against today’s NFL starting quarterbacks.
