Sad News For miami dolphins: He won’t play again

Tua Tag ovzailoa injury update: Coach Mike McDanielad N says Dolphins QB to practice Wednesday

The Miami Dolphins dropped to 2-4 on Sunday with a 16-10road loss to the Indianapolis Colts. It was the fourth full game the team played without starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who suffered a concussion in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills and was placed on injured reserve.

After four games off, Tagovailoa is set to practice this week following injured reserve requirements. The Dolphins gave their franchise quarterback a four-year, $212.4 million extension this offseason and could use him back in the starting lineup. They’re averaging just 10 points per game without him under center.

Miami coach Mike McDaniel spoke at a news conference today. Here’s what he said on his status for Week 8.

McDaniel said that Tagovailoa will be back in practice this week but did not confirm whether he will play in Week 8 against the Arizona Cardinals.

“Our plan is to start him practicing on Wednesday, and the clearing doesn’t come until after some of the activity,” he said. “But we’re obviously doing so in the hope of everything going well so he can play Sunday, but that will be to be determined.”

“You lean on experts for matters of the career, and that’s what we’re doing here,” McDaniel said, confirming that expert opinion played a role in putting Tagovailoa on injured reserve in the first place.

Quarterback Tyler Huntley suffered a shoulder injury in the loss to the Colts. McDaniel said the backup quarterback for Week 8 – should Tagovailoa start – is not set yet.

“To be determined,” he said. “Information still needs to be gathered… there’s still stuff that needs to go on with the evaluation process, and I’ll make my determination on that alongside the coaching staff.”
