Red Sox Linked to Trading For Teoscar Hernandez’s $260 Million Third Baseman

The New York Mets made a deep run in the postseason but ultimately fell short of the World Series. They could look to be aggressive in free agency to reach the Fall Classic in 2025.

FanSided’s Jacob Mountz urged the team to sign Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Teoscar Hernández in free agency.

“Teoscar Hernandez represents a golden opportunity to acquire a reliable slugging outfielder,” wrote Mountz. “In 2024, the reigning World Series champ slashed .272/.339/.501/.840 with a career high 33 home runs landing himself a third Silver Slugger award. Let’s take another quick glance at his 2024 season: career high home run total, Silver Slugger, Home Run Derby champ, and World Series champ. By all appearances, Hernandez is coming off a dream season.”

Hernández would bring serious power to the Mets outfield. Last season, the most home runs hit by a Mets outfielder was 23 by Brandon Nimmo. Spotrac projects him to sign a three-year, $71 million deal following his career year. The Mets will be in the mix to add Juan Soto, but Hernández would be a significantly cheaper addition.

Hernández was a consistent force for the Dodgers in 2024. While Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts were out during points of the season, Hernández was pivotal to their offense.

“Since 2021, Hernandez has been a key source of RBIs for three different teams. His presence in the middle of the order was essential to pushing the 2022 Blue Jays and the 2024 Dodgers into the postseason,” wrote Mountz. “But Hernandez’s one year Dodgers’ tenure was more notable as he proved to be a pivotal piece of their lineup when several key players were injured and absent.”
