Before the Maple Leafs’ historic season, Alex Steeves reunites with his teammates from Notre Dame during a pro camp.

Before their professional seasons begin later this month, Alex Steeves and a number of other University of Notre Dame alumni returned to campus earlier this week for a pro camp.
The 24-year-old forward is visiting the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, for the school’s yearly pro camp, when former professional hockey players take part in a variety of on-and off-ice activities. He is here with his former colleagues.
During his three seasons at Notre Dame, Steeves finished with 69 points from 33 goals and 36 assists in 104 games. His 32 points (15 goals, 17 assists) in 29 games during his senior season at college helped him land a three-year, entry-level deal with the Maple Leafs.
The forward joined the Toronto Marlies in the fall of 2021 after signing the contract in March of the same year. In 58 games during his first AHL season, Steeves totaled 37 points with 23 goals and 23 assists.
In the same year, Josh Leivo, a former Maple Leaf who scored 23 goals in the 2013–14 campaign, beat the previous record for Marlies rookie goals set by Bobby McMann. Before McMann surpassed the 24-goal barrier a few games later, Steeves and McMann tied the record at roughly the same time.
Steeves has appeared in seven NHL games since joining the Maple Leafs, recording one assist while averaging 10:14 of ice time. With the Marlies previous season, the left-handed winger recorded a career-high number of points (30 assists and 27 goals in 65 games). Steeves was an AHL All-Star as well.
