New York Jets mourn the passing of former star player, who contributed significantly to the team’s success in the

As the New York Jets’ season unravels with a 3-7 record, fans are openly voicing their desire for a fresh start at quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers, a four-time MVP, has faced criticism for his lackluster play this year, which has only intensified after the team’s recent blowout loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Amid these struggles, fans have taken to social media, making it clear they would rather not see Rodgers return for the 2025 season.

Despite the outcry, Rodgers has shown little indication of planning to retire.

Asked about his future on Wednesday, Rodgers responded, “I think so, yeah… not really, not for the negative.”

He acknowledged he hasn’t met his usual standards this season but stressed that football remains “a team game.”

The 40-year-old quarterback stands by his intent to keep playing, despite fan frustration and his current passer rating of 86.8-a career low.

On platforms like X, Jets fans have expressed blunt opinions.

One fan summed up the prevailing sentiment, writing, “Hard pass for me,” while another added, “Time to leave and retire bro.”

Such comments reflect a widespread view that the Jets should pivot to a younger quarterback who aligns better with the team’s future direction.

Rodgers’ career-low numbers with the Jets
Rodgers’ struggles this season include 15 touchdown passes against seven interceptions, along with a career-low 6.4 yards per attempt.

Injuries have also been a factor, as Rodgers has dealt with hamstring, knee, and ankle issues, although none have sidelined him from gameplay.

Reflecting on his performance, he said, “I’m not playing as well as I would’ve liked… if you’re a great competitor, you hold yourself to a standard… I haven’t reached that standard this year.”

With an option bonus looming for 2025, the Jets’ decision on Rodgers is both financial and strategic.

His $23.5 million cap charge is manageable, but the team may need to weigh it against their long-term goals.
