Funke Akindele revealed that she faced stereotyping in the industry due to her perceived “ugly” physical appearance, which led to her being primarily cast in minor roles, often referred to as “waka pass” roles.

Fortunately, Sikiratu Sindodo and Iyabo Ojo took a stand and advocated on Funke Akindele’s behalf, confronting producers who underestimated her. She vividly remembered an incident in a Yoruba movie where she expected a lead role but was given a minor “waka pass” role, leading her to tears. Sikiratu Sindodo and Iyabo Ojo, her friends and colleagues, comforted her during those tough moments.
