Aryna Sabalenka gets special WWE customised belt after US Open win

Newly-crowned US Open champion Aryna Sabalenka was given a special gift by the WWE after her win on Saturday, September 7. Sabalenka defeated Jessica Pegula in a tight final to secure her first win at the Flushing Meadows. This was the 26-year-old’s 3rd grand slam win and second one this year as she capped off a fine year.

How did Sabalenka win the US Open final?
World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka clinched the 2024 US Open women’s singles title by defeating Jessica Pegula in straight sets. In a gripping final that lasted one hour and 53 minutes at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Saturday, September 7, Sabalenka prevailed with a 7-5, 7-5 victory. This win marked a significant turnaround for the Belarusian, who had lost in the 2023 final to American Coco Gauff but ensured history did not repeat itself this year.

Following her title win, Sabalenka was getting ready for her champion’s photoshoot and was presented with a WWE title. It was the WWE Women’s championship, which also had custom side plates for the new champion. Sabalenka was very happy at receiving the title as she posed with it and held it proudly.
