Luke McNally says there’s a “good buzz” at Bristol City after completing his deadline-day transfer from Burnley. McNally has signed a four-year contract at Ashton Gate for a fee of around £1.75 million, Bristol Live understands, capping off two difficult years at Turf Moor.

McNally, who inherits the No15 shirt vacated by Tommy Conway, only made seven appearances for the Clarets following his move from Oxford United in 2022, and has spent the last 18 months on loan at Coventry City and then Stoke City, building up an impressive Championship CV.

City announced their intention to sign the 24-year-old during talks for Conway last month, and McNally is now in the building, providing head coach Liam Manning with the right-sided centre-back he has sought. It also provides

McNally with a permanent home and the opportunity to further establish himself in the division, free of the uncertainty of his situation at Burnley, with the Irishman emphasizing Manning’s “project” for him.

“I am really excited and very grateful to be at a club like Bristol City,” McNally said the crowd. “I am excited to get going and getting to see the training ground and meeting all the people has been great.”I wanted to join for the

project, and the manager has been successful, and I can tell he is genuinely creating something here. There seems to be a good buzz surrounding the club right now, and I hope I can contribute to it.”
