Bruno Fernandes has committed his future to Manchester United by signing a new three-year contract, with an option for an additional year, after holding positive discussions with the club’s new football leadership team.
Amid speculation about his future at the end of last season and interest from Bayern Munich this summer, the United captain has reaffirmed his loyalty to the club. The Portuguese playmaker, who has netted 79 goals and provided 67 assists in 234 appearances, has been assured that his most successful days at Old Trafford are still ahead, with ambitions of challenging for the title and returning to the Champions League.
“Everyone knows the passion I have for Manchester United. I understand the responsibility and significance of wearing this shirt, and the level of dedication and commitment required to represent this incredible club,” Fernandes stated.
“I’ve experienced many special moments here—hearing my name chanted by the Stretford End, scoring a hat trick against Leeds, leading the team out at Old Trafford on European nights, and lifting trophies at Wembley. But I wouldn’t have signed this contract if I didn’t believe that my best moments in a United shirt are yet to come.
“From my conversations with the football leadership and the manager, it’s clear how determined everyone is to fight for major trophies in the coming years. The future looks incredibly positive, and I’m excited to lead this team forward.”
Fernandes has been recognized as Manchester United’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year three times, a testament to his consistent excellence. Sporting director Dan Ashworth praised Fernandes’ unwavering commitment and leadership.
