Paris Olympic champions Julien Alfred, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, and Faith Kipyegon have been selected in a tough women’s list for the World Athletics Track Athlete of the Year.

According to the World Athletics, the nominees reflect some of the standout performances achieved at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, World Athletics Indoor Championships, one-day meeting circuits, and other events worldwide.

Alfred made history in Paris by becoming Saint Lucia’s first Olympic champion in history as well as scooping the world 60m indoor and Diamond League titles.

Consequently, McLaughlin-Levrone showed her consistency and dominance in the women’s 400mH again by claiming the Olympic title in a new World Record time and played a vital role in Team USA’s 4x400m gold medal.

For Kipyegon, she was undefeated in the women’s 1500m event all season, successfully defended her Olympic title, lowered her World Record time, and became the 5000m silver medallist in Paris.

Other nominees are Beatrice Chebet, who inspired a Kenyan 1-2 in the Olympic 5000m final, did the double again in the 10,000m, and clocked a new 10,000m World Record during the season.

Dominica Republic’s Marileidy Paulino was also unbeaten all season and became the Olympic and Diamond League 400m champion.
