Leeds United make direct Roland Sallai approach with multi-million transfer on cards
Leeds United have made a direct approach to sign Freiburg attacker Roland Sallai, according to Ben Jacobs.
The CBS journalist shared that a deal could be worth in excess of £8million, all in.
Jacobs also stated that Sallai would be open to a move to West Yorkshire if a transfer can be agreed before the 11pm deadline on 30 August.
“Roland Sallai is another player that Leeds have already made a direct enquiry for, to Freiburg. The fee is likely to be in excess of £8m, all in, including add-ons,” he told Give Me Sport.
“And there’s no agreement yet, but it’s understood that the player would be open to the move.”
Leeds United signing Roland Sallai would be a statement of intent
Leeds’ team has been ransacked of their most talented players since the transfer window opened with the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter both exiting the club.
The Whites narrowly missed out on Premier League promotion last season and just fell short at the final hurdle as they lost the playoff final to Southampton.
Once their destination was confirmed for the season, it was near-guaranteed that players would be sold but not even fans expected the amount of transfers that occurred.
However, despite the loss of some of their most talented players, it feels as if Daniel Farke is coming into the 2024/25 season for revenge.
The club have already added Joe Rodon back to their ranks and are on the cusp of signing Ao Tanaka in order to solidify their midfield.
Sallai’s addition would be a stellar acquisition for the club and would help fill the void left by both Summerville and Rutter.
In other Leeds news, Whites target Mohamed Belloumi has expressed his desire to exit Farense before 30 August.
