GOOD NEWS: Quess Who James Franklin’s Brouhgt Back To Play Again After…

Virginia Tech Class of 2025 four-star commit flips commitment to Penn State

What was supposed to be a fun weekend has turned into a horror show for the Virginia Tech football team. As if being upset in overtime on Saturday afternoon in Nashville by Vanderbilt, a team picked to finish in the basement of the SEC this season was bad enough, but on Monday, the news got worse for head coach Brent Pry when it comes to the Class of 2025 recruiting class.

Fourty-eight hours after the Hokies lost 34-27 to the Commodores, four-star Class of 2025 athlete Matthew Outten flipped his commitment from Virginia Tech to Penn State. Now I’m not saying that Saturday’s loss had anything to do with him flipping his commitment, but it just adds more pain to this Labor Day Weekend.

Outten committed on July 1 to the Hokies and the in-state recruit was one of the prized commitments that Pry and Fontel Mines got this summer. He is the 139th-ranked player in his class according to 247Sports and the No. 6 player in Virginia. He will be joining the Nittany Lions which just happens to be where Pry was at his previous stop as defensive coordinator for James Franklin.

This is a big recruiting loss for the Hokies who were building a talented class. They now have Micah Matthews, Jayden Anderson, and Shamaruis Peterkin still committed with Matthews and Peterkin being four stars and Anderson a three-star.

Virginia Tech has 16 commits currently in the class with Outten flipping his commitment and it makes you wonder if there are going to be any more as we go along. This is a hit as far as in-state recruiting goes as well with Outten committing to a Big Ten school.
