How to watch ECU baseball on TV, livestream in AAC Tournament vs. Rice
East Carolina baseball begins its journey through the 2024 American Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday.
The double-elimination tournament pits the top-seeded Pirates (40-18) against No. 8-seeded Rice (22-34) in the second game of the tournament on Tuesday. The start time is set for 47 minutes after the conclusion of Wichita State vs. UAB, which is slated to begin at 9 a.m. ET.
The 2024 AAC Tournament is taking place at BayCare Ball Park in Clearwater, Florida. The 8,500-seat stadium is the spring training home of the Philadelphia Phillies.
ECU finished the regular season on a high note, claiming its fifth-consecutive AAC regular-season title after a three-game series sweep of Rice. The Pirates have won 13 conference tournament titles all time, most recently claiming the AAC Championship in 2022
Baseball America’s No. 7 and No. 9 ranked teams, respectively, East Carolina and Duke are set for a mid-week grudge match pitting two of the best teams in North Carolina and the country against each other Tuesday night.
The Pirates are coming off their seventh straight series win, taking two of three from South Florida and winning the first two games by a margin of 19-6. Eight different hitters drove in at least one run in the series, and pitchers Trey Yesavage and Danny Beal threw sparkling games.
This is Evansville’s fourth NCAA Tournament appearance at the Division I level (1988, 2000, 2006) while East Carolina sought its fourth regional championship in five seasons. History didn’t matter. Neither did the Aces’ 19-6 loss to the Pirates on Sunday night.
ECU finished 29-6 on its home field at Clark-LeClair Stadium, one of college baseball’s top environments. Two of those losses came to Evansville during the regional.
This is his last ride and he was going to leave it all out there for us,” Carroll said of Harris. “I needed him to get three outs for us, and boy did he. What a gutsy performance.”
This team has proven time and time again that it won’t quit, having won eight of nine games this postseason. It’s already set single-season team records for doubles, home runs and runs scored. And its 38 wins are the sixth-most in program history.
Now, they’ll get to keep adding to those marks against the best team in college baseball.
“To come in here and earn this in one of the most hostile environments in the country, I couldn’t be more proud,” Carroll said.
