sad news: for Wolverhampton He won ‘t play again

Hwang Hee-chan makes Premier League admission with Wolves ‘motivation’ identified

Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan has opened up about what motivates him to perform in the Premier League.

Signed by Wolves on an initial loan from RB Leipzig in 2021, Hwang quickly became a fan favourite at Molineux.

The Korean’s pace, power and work rate is noticeable on the pitch, seeing the forward hit peak levels last season working with Gary O’Neil.

While the 2023/24 calendar started outstandingly for Hwang, his form dropped off in the turn of the year; however, the same motivation applies for the 28-year-old whenever he steps on the pitch.

Hwang Hee-chan opens up on Premier League motivation

There was talk of Hwang heading towards the 20-goal mark in the Premier League at the start of last season, as the South Korea international scored frequently.

Hwang netted six goals in the opening 10 fixtures of the league season, thriving as he acted as the spearhead of O’Neil’s attack.

As mentioned, such form has not been evident in the former Leipzig ace’s game for a while, with the player making an admission on enjoying his football in England, via Wolves’ official website.

“When I was young, I watched every Premier League game. Playing in the Premier League was my dream, so when I arrived here, I felt very excited. I really wanted to play every game and show my performances,” Hwang explained.

“When I’m on the pitch I still think I need to enjoy this time – playing and training in the Premier League, that’s why I can give every day 100 percent. That’s good enough motivation.”

The Korean is missing the spark that he had at the start of last term, which is something O’Neil will be eager to resolve in the coming weeks.

Hwang almost left Wolves this summer

There were points last season where Hwang was unplayable, with his clinical streak in front of goal not the only area of his game that excelled.

The 28-year-old’s physicality when on the ball makes him incredibly difficult to defend against, which only makes his recent form all the more frustrating.

Now is the time for Hwang to put his motivation to succeed in the Premier League to practice, given that the versatile forward’s time in England almost came to an end this summer.
