Sha’Carri Richardson : confirm major injury just now

Unexpectedly, Sha’Carri Richardson is unable to advance to the 100-meter final of the USA Track & Field Championships.

At the USA Track and Field Championships, Sha’Carri Richardson was unable to move past the heats in the 100 meters.
Richardson was infamously disqualified from the Olympics in Tokyo due to a positive marijuana test during trials.
She expressed regret on Twitter a few days prior to the race regarding her interview with Today Show following her positive test result.

At the USA Track and Field Championships, which got underway on Thursday night, American sprinting sensation Sha’Carri Richardson, who made headlines last year when she was disqualified from the Tokyo Olympics due to a drug test, failed to get past the heats in her trademark event.

With a time of 11.31 seconds, Richardson, who was ranked as high as sixth in the world in the 100 meters, finished her heat in fifth place and missed the cutoff to advance to Friday’s semifinal. She will not compete in the 100 meters at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, next month due to the unexpected outcome.

This is the 22-year-old sprinter’s most recent setback. She has drawn criticism ever since she made her debut as the top American qualifier for the 100 meters at the Tokyo Games. Days after her impressive performance in the Olympic Trials, it was discovered that she had tested positive for THC, a substance that is prohibited and is present in marijuana, in a post-race drug test.

A few days later, Richardson acknowledged using the substance in an interview with the Today Show. She talked about the pressures she was under and how shocked she was to hear about her birth mother’s death. She tweeted a video of that interview on Tuesday, writing, “I wish I had never done this. When it came time for me to share my tale, I wish I had more options.”
