Sky Sports reporter confirms Hull City in talks for £18m-rated midfielder

Hull City seal major transfer coup by signing Bayer Leverkusen title-winner

The Tigers have snapped up the talented South American playmaker

Gustavo Puerta has become the latest addition to Tim Walter’s squad as Hull City continue their aggressive recruitment drive at the back end of the transfer window.

Puerta arrives from German champions Bayer Leverkusen with City fighting off a host of interest in the 21-year-old Colombian midfielder to bring him to the MKM Stadium on an initial loan for the season, with an obligation to make it permanent next summer.

The youngster, who was at the MKM Stadium on Saturday to watch the goalless draw with Millwall, had been linked with a £3m move to Brondby earlier in the transfer window, as well as Scottish outfit Rangers. But City, who have been keen to bolster their midfield ranks this summer following the departures of Tyler Morton and Greg Docherty at the end of last season and now Jean Michael Seri, have got their man.

Puerta was limited to just seven Bundesliga appearances for Xabi Alonso’s side last season and three displays in the Europa League but didn’t get off the bench in any of their knockout games through to the defeat to Atalanta in the final in Dublin.
