Tennessee’s Nashville (AP) — After receiving a warning from physicians that performing in stadiums and enormous venues could cause him to lose a significant amount of hearing, AC/DC singer Brian Johnson declared he was not going to give up on music.
In a statement issued on Tuesday through his publicist, Johnson stated that he plans to keep recording in studios and will be receiving treatment to help him hear better. Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses will take over the vocalist of “Back in Black” for the Rock or Bust World Tour, which kicks off in Lisbon on May 7.
Johnson expressed his disappointment to his fans and said he was “personally crushed” to learn that he would no longer be able to perform. He expressed optimism, though, and said he hopes to resume live performances once his hearing gets better.
